MADIE DEFFE´

OWNER, LEAD FLORIST & FLOWER FARMER

Madie fell in love with flowers through years of gardening and floristry. Both were jobs she held to pay her way through college. After graduating with degrees in International Studies, Spanish and Latin American studies, she began to understand the environmental impact that gardening for private homes and floristry has. After working as a farmer-florist at Little Farmhouse Flowers in upstate New York, she decided that her hometown needed the same concept. A farm that provides organic, fresh-cut flowers could do wonders to mitigate the amount of plastic, chemicals, and CO2 farms and floral shops put into our ecosystem. It is an undertaking that has been equally rewarding as it is challenging. When Madie isn’t focused on the farm and her flowers, you can find her exploring the world, playing with her two blonde dogs, Gunner and Skye, in the forest or reading tarot cards with a glass of rosé.

FLASH FALLON

LEAD FIX-IT MAN & MACHINERY OPERATIONS

Flash has reluctantly helped on the farm since it’s creation. That’s what happens when you decide to marry a farmer. Since 2019, he has helped Madie install the bigger piece of farming implements, work most of the electric tools, and finds a weird joy in the hardest, sweatiest jobs on the farm. His day job is working for a local welding shop, so if you ever see a big green truck with a blue welder in the back, give him a wave! In his precious spare time, you can find Flash carving turns on his skis, swimming in any body of water that isn’t too cold, enjoying a fresh margarita, or following his wife, Madie, across the globe.

SKYE

LEAD CANINE & VOLE HUNTER

Skye is a young pup who is eager to learn the way of the farm. In the last two years, she has learned how to hunt voles and keep the furry pests away from the main crops. She demands that sticks get thrown often and there isn’t a dull moment. When she’s not bothering farm assistants for pets, she’s laying in one of the few spots of shades and chewing on something she shouldn’t.

GUNNER

IN LOVING MEMORY OF OUR BREAK MANAGER & 1ST LEAD CANINE

In August 2025, we lost Gunner, our first employee and lead canine. You might think it’s weird that we have an In Memoriam for a farm dog. But this wasn’t any farm dog. Wild Flora Farm wouldn’t be what it is today without our trusty Gunner the lab. He got Madie out of bed and to the farm each morning during the pandemic, when all the frightening headlines and fear made her want to stay inside all day. He demanded snack equality, shade distribution, that we all take frequent water breaks and that no creature, big or small, goes unnoticed. Gunner was more than just dog on our farm. He was our mascot, our trust sidekick, and brought every employee and visitor alike joy. We all will miss him terribly.
